Board of Directors

Alexis Brown, Board President

Alexis Brown has worked in health care for 13 years and currently works at Jordan Valley Community Health Center as the Executive Director of Clinics and Patient Experience. Previously she worked for The Great Game of Business teaching employees about open book management and for the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. She is a board member for Abilities First and serves on the Mayor’s Commission for Children and many other community groups and coalitions. Alexis has always had a passion for volunteering and working in her communities. She chose to become a board member of the Beanie Brigade for multiple reasons but most importantly she saw firsthand what Taylor and his family experienced. She believes if we can bring a smile to a child, mom, dad, friends and others in these times we have met our goal of warming heads and hearts! A small token can go a long way in healing the heart and head.

Diane Bauer, Board Vice-President

Diane Bauer has worked in the field of early childhood education for over 20 years and has had the privilege of being a part of OACAC Head Start since 1998. Currently she serves as the Assistant Program Director. However, her experience also includes teaching, curriculum development and implementation, and early childhood consultation and training. Diane is an active member of the Early Care and Education Collaborative within the community. Currently, her volunteer experience includes Community Wide Play Day, Springfield Catholic Baseball Association and Springfield Youth Hockey Association. Diane feels blessed to be able to serve on the Beanie Brigade Board—she believes the organization supports families and fosters empathy!

Trina Cowan, Board Treasurer & Secretary

Trina Cowan has worked in the Health Care field for over 15 years. She has worked as account managers/directors with Mercy Hospital, Ozarks Community Hospital, and Select Hospital. Trina has a vast experience with assisting local not-for-profits. Her volunteer work includes Habitat for Humanity, Cooks Kettle, Relay for Life, The Plucky Duck 5K, and many more. Trina became involved with The Beanie Brigade because of her deep passion for helping in the community.

Nancy Anderson, Board Member

Nancy Anderson, a California Real Estate Broker, has run a successful business. While doing so, she also served the real estate community on the Board of Directors at both the local and state levels, serving on and chairing many committees, including the Education, Marketing/Exchange, and Membership Recognition Committees at the local level, and International Forum at the state level. While busy with real estate she still found time for her passion, teaching Spanish, as well as serving as a trustee for her church. Since moving to Springfield, MO in the summer of 2013, Nancy has been looking for a cause to support and feels The Beanie Brigade is a worthy one.

Scott Bottorf, Board Member

Scott Bottorf has been in business and management for 30 years. He started in management at Blockbuster Video where he oversaw 11 stores. In 2000, Scott decided to become his own boss and purchased Sapphire Mills, LLC. Sapphire Mills is a locally owned and operated embroidery business. Scott was instrumental in the inception, and currently assists with the day to day operations of The Beanie Brigade. He became involved because of his sense of community and seeing the value his business and background can offer The Beanie Brigade.

Shannon Butcher, Board Member

Shannon Butcher has worked in food service sales since 2006 with 3 years in the medical industry and is currently employed at General Mills. She has recently starting volunteering with the Safe to Sleep program through the Council of Churches and has participated in volunteer opportunities at North Point Church. Shannon and her husband have started the Chloe Butcher Scholarship in memory of their daughter and her love of competitive cheerleading in which two recipients were awarded. Shannon is honored to support and learn from the Beanie Brigade in the efforts to put a smiles on faces and helping to warm heads.
